Brief

Austin Reynolds was appointed to deliver a full external signage package for the newly developed Chilterns Lifestyle Centre. This high-profile community facility required signage that was not only visually striking and modern, but also functional, durable, and compliant with council standards. The scope of work covered both building mounted illuminated signage and post mounted signs for the surrounding parks and open spaces. The aim was to create a cohesive, professional signage system that enhanced the centre’s visibility and supported its role as a central hub for the local community.

Solution

Working in close collaboration with the client and local council, the Austin Reynolds team took the project from concept to completion, managing every stage of the process.
Design & Development
We provided client artwork, technical drawings, and sample materials for approval prior to production, ensuring alignment with both branding guidelines and the architectural features of the centre.
External Building Signage
The main signage on the building featured large built-up letters with halo illumination, providing a sleek, modern appearance that is highly visible during both day and night. A key feature was the illuminated council roundel — a circular logo with precision cut text and graphics that allowed the background panel to show through. This, too, was halo-illuminated, giving it depth and a premium finish. The roundel acts as a central visual anchor on the façade, immediately drawing attention and reinforcing the building’s identity.
Parks & Open Space Signage
We also supplied a range of post mounted signs positioned throughout the nearby parks and open spaces. These were developed in collaboration with the council to communicate rules and regulations clearly to the public. The signage scheme was designed to be highly legible and resistant to weather, ensuring durability in an outdoor environment.
Installation
All signage was installed by our experienced in-house installation team, who ensured that each piece was mounted securely and aligned precisely for maximum visual impact and safety.

Outcome

The completed signage scheme for Chilterns Lifestyle Centre was a success on all fronts. The halo-illuminated signage added a striking and professional appearance to the building’s exterior, greatly enhancing its presence within the community. The council roundel became a standout feature — a bold and distinctive focal point that gives the centre its identity.
The post mounted signage around the parks helped create a unified visual language across the site, while effectively communicating key information to visitors. Both the client and the council were highly satisfied with the quality, execution, and aesthetics of the signage package.
Through careful planning, attention to detail, and close client collaboration, Austin Reynolds delivered a cohesive, high quality signage solution that contributes to the centre’s function as a modern, welcoming community destination.
