Brief
The objective was to deliver signage that was sophisticated, high quality, and impactful, both internally and externally while remaining within the client’s budget. The signage needed to communicate clear and effective information to residents and visitors, aligned with the initial design requirements.
Solution
Collaborating with the client’s design team, we developed a solution using a variety of materials and finishes across the development. All signage was manufactured in the UK and installed by our experienced team.
External Signage
Arrival Signage
We installed two sets of halo-illuminated letters and logos for the residential and hotel entrances. This elegant and effective signage creates a strong first impression. The bespoke colour and soft warm white LEDs contribute to a welcoming and inviting atmosphere.
Ecology Signage
This bespoke, one off signage system was designed for installation within raised planters. Brushed stainless steel uprights with custom brackets are fixed to the internal face of the planter. A powder coated frame and surface printed tray, protected by a sprayed laminate, provide an ideal platform for sharing information about local ecology and biodiversity.
External Finger Posts
Designed to complement the Ecology signage, these posts feature a stainless steel main structure with powder coated directional fingers and a custom topper with applied graphics. The modular design allows for easy updates to directional information as needed. Blending seamlessly with the surrounding development, they provide clear, accurate guidance for residents and visitors.
Totems
Strategically positioned around the site perimeter, these totems deliver on all design objectives while harmonizing with other external signage elements. Constructed from powder coated aluminium and stainless steel, they feature internal illumination that enhances visibility at night and provides additional lighting for footpaths.
Internal Signage
Lobby Signage
A bespoke set of letters was fabricated from 3mm toned bronze to complement the client’s fixtures and fittings within the residential areas. Two distinct styles were employed: a prominent set of built-up letters spelling ASPEN, approximately 500mm in height, and a smaller set of flat cut letters reading CANARY WHARF. Positioned behind the concierge desk, these elements establish the visual identity for the internal signage throughout the development.
Directories
Maintaining the design language introduced by the lobby signage, we developed a refined and visually coherent directory system. Each unit comprises a custom toned bronze panel featuring engraved text with infilled contrast detailing. To enhance the aesthetic appeal, these panels were mounted onto 10mm black acrylic backings, creating a floating effect with subtle shadowing.
Directional Wayfinding
To adhere to the project’s budget constraints, the directional signage was designed in collaboration with the client’s design team using individually fret cut text in 5mm acrylic. These elements were wet sprayed to closely replicate the toned bronze finish, successfully achieving the desired visual consistency while remaining cost effective.
Apartment Numbering
Individual apartment numbers were crafted from 5mm toned bronze to match the entrance lighting fixtures and maintain consistency with the lobby signage. Through multiple sample iterations and refinements to the toning process, a near perfect match was achieved. These numbers contribute a refined and elegant touch to each apartment entrance.
Outcome
With the signage installation complete, we successfully delivered a solution that aligned precisely with the client’s expectations and visual identity. The final result reflects the intended aesthetic and complements the distinctive style of the development.
The client expressed exceptional satisfaction with the outcome, commending our professionalism and our ability to provide tailored, high quality solutions that met their exacting requirements.
